Gateway Humane Society is an old but new organization. Over Thirty years ago a group of men and women came together to form the society. Back then, they took in and cared for animals in their homes until their dreams of building a proper facility could be reached.
Their main goal is to find homes for stray or surrendered animals, no matter how long it takes. It is the only public, non-profit, no-kill animal rescue shelter in the local area, not breed specific, for both cats and dogs.
In 2006 a modern shelter was built with two dog run areas that can house up to thirty-two dogs and two cat rooms that can house a minimum of fourteen cats at a time.
July 14, 2008 the doors opened to the public, sheltering pets and strays until a new home can be found. We take pride that we have and will always maintain a high standing in the local community and in the state of Pennsylvania.
We make sure that the animals receive the best care available. The shelter relies solely on donations; public, private and business, of any size. Whether it be a single item or a monetary gift, all donations are highly appreciated and used to care for the animals housed in our shelter.
Our staff and volunteers are very proud of the work that they do, even though it may not be the most "glamorous" of tasks. Many compliments are paid by visitors on how clean and well taken care of our facility is.
Stop in during open hours and take a tour. You may even find your new best friend!
We are located just outside of Falls Creek, between Kyle Lake and Beechwoods Golf Course on the right.
